LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A Lincoln County Sheriff's deputy has suffered a broken hand following the chase of a man on a four-wheeler.
Just after 12:00 a.m. on Friday deputies were on a call on South Industrial Park Rd. when they were informed of a Lincolnton PD officer following a four-wheeler traveling Country Club Rd. toward Salem Church Rd.
Deputies saw a man, David Alan Webb, 32, in black clothing with a white helmet and a black backpack on a four-wheeler coming from behind a business on South Industrial Park Rd. Webb jumped off of the four-wheeler and ran into the woods nearby.
Deputies were pursuing Webb when he threw his helmet behind him, hitting the one of the deputies in the hand. The suspect then slipped and fell. Deputies were able to take him into custody.
The deputy that was hit with the helmet has a broken right hand.
Webb has been charged with one felony count of speeding to elude arrest and one misdemeanor count each of driving while license revoked, resist, delay and obstruct a public officer and assault on a government official.
He is being held at the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $37, 000 secure bond.
