Two arrested after crack cocaine, loaded AR-15 rifle found inside home

- Two men are in custody after authorities discovered crack cocaine and a loaded AR-15 rifle among other stolen items inside an Iredell County home, police said. 

Craig Alan Blackwell Jr., 24, is charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, felony to maintain a vehicle/dwelling or place to sell controlled substances, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and three counts of felony possession of a stolen firearm. 

Billy Ray Dalton Jr., 26, is charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance, felony maintain a vehicle/dwelling or place to sell controlled substances, and three counts of felony possession of a stolen firearm. 

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation Unit executed a search warrant in the early morning hours of Friday, July 7, at a home located at 1125 Rita Avenue off of Bristol Road.

Immediately upon entering the home, deputies encountered two men in the living room. Lying on the floor next to one suspect was a AR-15 rifle loaded with a 50 round rotary magazine, next to the other suspect was a loaded .38 Caliber pistol.

Both men were immediately taken into custody and a search of the house was conducted.

The search located eight loaded guns plus numerous rounds of ammunition, “crack cocaine”, digital scales, other drug paraphernalia and more than $1,800 in cash. After running the serial numbers on the guns through various data systems, three were determined to have been stolen out of Alexander, Burke and Iredell Counties.

Blackwell is being held on a $100,000 bond while Dalton is being held on a $50,000 bond.
