CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Charlotte City Council members unanimously passed the "brunch bill" which will allow the sale of alcohol before noon on Sundays.
The vote came just before 9 p.m. on Monday. Effective immediately, alcohol sales can begin as early as 10 a.m. on Sunday. The law was passed by state legislators earlier this year.
Another big item at Monday's city council meeting was the approval of the Central Ave. at Clement Ave. Pedestrian Safety Project. This project will pay Duke Energy up to $110,000 for the relocation and installation of new poles at the intersection of Central Ave. and Clement Ave.
The City Council also voted to have Carlenia Ivory represent District Two following the resignation of former representative Al Austin. Ivory will be sworn in tomorrow by Mayor Roberts. At the next regular council meeting she will be formally sworn in.
