4 teens arrested in string of armed robberies targeting Hispanic community

- Four teenagers have been charged for their involvement in a string of violent armed robberies that were targeting the Hispanic community in Charlotte, police said. 

Antonio Rivera-Chinchilla, 18, Christian Jose Salmeron, 19, Joshua Omar Salvado-Jil, 19, and a 15-year-old boy have been charged in connection to the crimes.

On Thursday, July 27, CMPD officers observed a vehicle matching the suspect description given by detectives. Three teenagers inside the car also fit the suspect descriptions. CMPD officers pulled the vehicle over, and discovered marijuana inside the car. 

All three teenagers were transported to CMPD headquarters where they were interviewed. They were then transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. 

Following the arrest of the three teens, it was discovered there was a fourth suspect, identified as a 15-year-old male. The juvenile was arrested early Thursday morning during a traffic stop. CMPD said the teen was interviewed by detectives and then transported to a juvenile facility. 

Rivera-Chinchilla has been charged with four counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, five counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, attempted murder and attempted armed robbery. The 15-year-old juvenile has been charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. 

Salmeron has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and two  counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Salvado-Gil has been charged with three counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

The investigation is ongoing. Additional charges are forthcoming, police said.
