Man crashes into cruiser trying to run from police

- A man crashed into a cruiser while trying to flee from police overnight near uptown, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. 

Officers said at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 2 they attempted to top a vehicle that was going the wrong way on College Street. The suspect, Rodarius D. Meaders, 20, refused to stop the vehicle. 

CMPD officers circulated the area and located Meaders in the 1st Ward Apartment Complex. The suspect again tried to flee and struck the officer's vehicle. The officer was not injured. 

Meaders was taken into custody and arrested. Police said there was also a passenger inside the vehicle, who fled from the scene. 

Meaders is charged with possession of firearm by a felon, CCW-gun, DWRL, driving without a registration, driving without insurance, possession of marijuana, reckless driving, and two counts of fleeing to elude.
