Woman charged in connection to Charlotte's 48th homicide

- A woman has been charged in connection to a fatal July shooting in east Charlotte. 

Kristian Nicole Weddington, 23, was taken into custody early this morning where she was charged with murder and shooting into an occupied property. 

In early July, officers responded to a call in the 5300 block of Kimmerly Woods Dr. Upon arrival, officers found Tommy Maddox, 24, on the ground in front of an apartment complex with a gunshot wound.

Maddox was transported to the Carolinas Medical Center where he later died. 

Weddington is being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail. Detectives have reason to believe that there are additional suspects in this case and are asking for the public’s assistance.
