Users of family-friendly app 'Nextdoor' surprised to see request for 'swinging'

- Swinging is typically thought of as a playground activity, but a different type of swinging has people on the community app, Nextdoor. shaking their heads.

"This guy is soliciting sex on Nextdoor, it's a community website," said a user of the app who doesn’t want to be identified.

The woman says a Nextdoor user posted a message, asking: “Any swingers on here?” Then came this design of an empty set of swings, reading: “Anyone interested? direct message me if so.”

Then, a post of a pineapple appeared, which, apparently, is a universal symbol for swingers. That post included a phone number.

We tried calling the poster, but they did not answer. However, shot me a text message, reading, in part, "I'm open [to] it and seeing if there was a cult following -- Craig'sList is a lot of riff raff."

The thing about NextDoor is that you can only post to the neighborhood area you live in. This post came from the enclaves in Indian Trail where users are used to seeing posts looking for, say, a tennis match, or yard work.

"This isn't your run of the mill yard sale," said the woman.

There's nothing illegal here, but NextDoor tells FOX 46 Charlotte it requires activity to be "family-friendly." The poster tells FOX 46: "Any [publicity] is good [publicity]" for swingin.

At least one in his community, is wondering what's happening next door.

"I guess people have their fetishes," she said.
