Lincoln County deputies searching for lottery ticket thief

- Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies is asking for the public's help in locating a man wanted on outstanding warrants and for stealing numerous lottery tickets.

Police say Marcus Tyler Holloway, 32, of Statesville, NC is wanted on several outstanding warrants in other counties, and is wanted for obtaining property by false pretenses after distracting the clerk at Sam's Mart in Denver, NC around 5:30 am Wednesday and stealing several lottery tickets valued at $20 each.

A few hours later, around 8:30 am, Lincoln County deputies were called to the Denver Mart regarding 45 lottery tickets that had been stolen while the clerk was distracted. After reviewing surveillance video at each store deputies were able to determine that Holloway was the suspect in both incidents.

Holloway returned to the Denver Mart a short time later and that's when deputies spotted his vehicle and attempted to stop him, but he refused to stop and eluded deputies.  Due to the high traffic volume in the area at the time, deputies did not pursue Holloway.

Deputies later discovered the vehicle he was driving abandoned on a street in Denver.

If you know of Holloway's whereabouts you're asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 704-732-9050 or 911.
