Dog attacks, bites police officer in Concord

- A Concord police officer is in the hospital after a dog attacked and bit the officer's hand while attempting to serve an arrest warrant Monday morning, police said. 

The incident happened at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7 in the 200 block of Clintwood Drive. 

The police officer had responded to the location to serve an arrest warrant when the dog attacked. The officer was transported to CMC-Northeast for treatment and is scheduled to be transferred to CMC-Main. 

The officer is in stable condition and medical staff are hopeful she will make a full recovery. 

The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Division is investigating this incident.
