2 recieve CMPD Officer of the Month award

- Fugitives, illegal guns in the wrongs hands and car break-ins have long been a nuisance to the Queen City.

That's why CMPD recognized two officers of the month today for helping clean up the streets.

FOX 46 provided the officers with custom made “Getting Results” plaques to thank them for their service.

“Thank you I appreciate that very much,” said Officer Casey Shue.

Shue from the North Tryon division is being recognized for her work making 198 traffic stops in the past month.

FOX 46 asked Officer Shue how she did it.

"11 arrests 7 felony - guns off the streets, it can happen, but I work with a really good partner it helps because I've got someone I know I can count on,” she said.

Also recognized was Officer Mark Hanson from the Independence division, who helped bust a nagging rash of car break-ins in the Coventry Woods neighborhood.

"Just felt good that we could get them their stuff back. Even though it wasn't a lot of high dollar items, it still felt good to get them their property back, " said Officer Hanson.

For both officers Hanson and Shue, keeping you safe isn’t work, it’s their life.

"This award's great but to be honest with you I get to come to work every day and love what I do,” said Officer Shue.
