CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Authorities have a confirmed a three-year-old was one of three victims in Tuesday's triple homicide in a rural town in Chesterfield County.
Authorities also released the names of the deceased, minus the child's name.
Hailey Brown, 29, and Cordarius Foster, 27, are the names of the two others who were killed.
According to the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at 3021 Society Hill Road in the Cheraw area.
“My heart dropped. If your heart could come out of your body, mine did today,” said Cindy Johnson. Tears were streaming down her face when she came to the crime scene where three people were shot and killed on Society Hill Road.
“They were a loving family. That mother, those children were her world.”
Johnson says her granddaughter often played at the house police are investigating where a mother, father, and their two daughters live. She says their grandmother lives in the blue house in front of their home.
“Just good people, could not ask for no better.”
No other neighbors live as far as the eye can see, but what happened there was hear around the community.
“I’m just wondering what and why,” said Gail James. “It’s just shocking!”
A preacher also was drawn to the deadly scene and broke down crying. Now Johnson wants the county to come together, mending hearts broken by Tuesday’s tragedy.
“For Chesterfield County, a small county, it’s just like what is going on!” said Johnson.
Deputies have not arrested anyone and also said they are not looking for any suspects.
The sheriff's office said there is no threat to the public.
