'3 Little Pigs' missing: Police write poem asking for help finding stolen pig statues

- The Cornelius Police Department and the Cornelius Department of Parks, Arts, Recreation and Culture (PARC) are working together to try to retrieve three pig statues that were stolen from a park.

The statues were stolen from Bailey Road Park in Cornelius. The police department estimates the total value at about $5,000.

The department decided to get a little creative when it came to solving this crime, saying this was "not a typical larceny case for us."

They wrote a poem based on the '3 Little Pigs' and shared an image of the stolen items on their Facebook page. The poem reads:

"3 Little Pigs are
M.I.A. Stolen from P.A.R.C the other day
From Bailey Road, these pigs were taken
But they won’t make you any bacon
So CPD is on the trail
To take these pig thieves straight to jail
Help us out and spread the word
Because stealing Town property is absurd
From this photo you can see
How big and bulky are these three
They are black and gray and sitting on rocks
Perhaps you have seen them on your block
Call us if you have a tip
So we can solve this lickety-split!"

Police say the crime occurred sometime between Wednesday and Friday. The theft was reported on Monday. There was no note left at the scene of the crime.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Cornelius Police Department at (704) 892-7773 or call 911.
