Wreck involving power pole shuts down NC-150, closes schools

- Three schools in the Lake Norman area are closed and several others are on a two-hour delay following a crash on NC-150 in Mooresville.

The accident occurred overnight along NC-150 westbound. A vehicle was traveling west when it crossed the centerline and impacted a power pole then overturned several times.

The driver was cited and released from the scene, authorities said.

Residents in the area have power, however the power lines were knocked down. The power lines were observed hanging low across the intersection, still hot. NCDOT has set up detours in the area.

Police said speed and inattention were factors in the wreck.

Due to the crash, Lakeshore Elementary School, Lakeshore Middle, and Lake Norman HS will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 26. "We are unable to move buses off campus at this time," the school stated.

Brawley Middle, Mount Mourne, Lake Norman Elementary, and Woodland Heights Elementary will experience a two-hour delay in bus transportation. "If they are able, students and staff member from these four schools should report to school on time," school officials stated.

The area will reopen between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday.
