School Bus Accident in Charlotte; 11 in Hospital

Emergency crews took 11 people to the hospital after an accident involving a school bus on Barrington Drive and The Plaza in Charlotte Thursday morning. Eight students were on the school bus when the accident happened. All 8 students were taken to the hospital. 

CMPD says the SUV driver didn't stop at a red light. She hit the front left side of the school bus, then the bus ran off the road and hit two trees. The SUV caught fire after the crash.

No one has life-threatening injuries. The school bus driver and two people in the SUV were also taken to the hospital.  The bus carried students at John Morehead Stem Academy.
