A Charlotte police officer was charged with DWI Saturday, according to CMPD Police Chief Kerr Putney.
The DWI task force stopped Shaheen Fadel in his personal car and charged him with DWI. Fadel was not working when he was pulled over.
“Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are expected to conduct themselves to the highest professional standards and will be held accountable when they fail to do so. At no time will this department tolerate behavior that violates the law or our community’s trust,” Chief Putney said.
Fadel started working for CMPD nearly one year ago, and is a patrol officer in the metro division. He's on administrative leave until the charge and an internal investigation is complete.
