Three people have already been charged with first degree murder in connection to the case: Enrico Dewoine Heggins, Antwon Deon Taylor, and Kasey Allen Randol.
Statesville Police Chief Joe Barone said today’s arrests are a culmination of “unknown hours by numerous officers and staff” to build a strong case against the suspects.
Wells was shot and killed on January 6 at a home on Hickory Ave. He died the next morning at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
“These individuals have caused a lot of turmoil in this area,” said SBI Special Agent In Charge R.C. Laws. “The community has been indirect victims of these violent crimes.”
Barone added that these arrests will have a direct impact on the “violent crime activity in Statesville and neighboring communities… Trust me, these arrests are a good thing.”
“We anticipate that today’s arrests will lead to additional arrests in this area,” said Barone.
The suspects arrested today have been taken to the Iredell County Jail where bond will be set.
