Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Closed to Students Monday

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools will be closed for students Monday because of a concern about water refreezing overnight and causing black ice. Teachers and other faculty are scheduled to report to work at 10 a.m.

"While roads in some areas of our county are clear, many other roads across our county are not," reads a statement from CMS.

January 25 originally was a teacher work day. After CMS canceled school Friday due to the snow and ice storm that hit the area, Monday became the makeup day, but now that they've canceled school Monday, the new makeup day will be Monday, February 15.

Continuous Learning Schools, Druid Hills Academy and Thomasboro Academy, won't have to make up the student day because they have extra days built into their calendar.
