Catawba Co. man arrested after threatening judge

- A Catawba County man has been arrested after threatening a Lincoln County District Court Judge earlier this month.

The incident happened on February 10, 2016 in Lincoln County Child Support Court.

Authorities said James Michael Robinette, 51, was the courtroom presided over by District Court Judge Jeanette Reeves.

After Robinette’s motion was denied by Judge Reeves he made a statement that “I guess I’ll just have to go get my gun” which was directed toward Judge Reeves.

Court Officers detained Robinette until the end of the court session. He was brought back before Judge Reeves where he was found in contempt of court and sentenced to 30 days in custody.

On February 18, 2016, police charged Robinette with one felony count of Threats against Executive, Legislative, or Court Officer.

Bond for the charge was set at $30,000 secured.

Robinette remains in the Haven A. Crouse Detention Center without bond on a hold for Contempt of Court.
