UPDATE: No charges for man who reportedly followed jogger with knife

- There will be no charges against a man who reportedly chased a woman jogger with a knife on Thursday, according to Rock Hill Police Department.

After investigating officers say there was no crime involved. They learned the suspect never had a knife on him.

The incident happened in the 200 block of Stewart Avenue, within the city limits of Rock Hill. 

Officers said they were dispatched to Ebenezer Avenue to meet with the victim. Upon arrival, police spoke with the woman who said she was on a run when she saw a man acting suspiciously. 

She described the suspect as a black male, 6'3" tall, wearing a black jacket and a blue Panthers hat. She told police she passed the man and continued jogging toward Laurel Cemetery where she usually exercises. 

As she continued to run, she heard foot steps coming up behind her. She told police she turned to see the man chasing after her, holding a knife. She told police she began to run faster and ran to the Family Trust Credit Union located at 225 West White Street.

She then told officers she ran inside and hid in the bathroom. She stated the man was right behind her when she entered the Credit Union. 

Police went to the Family Trust Credit Union and observed security video of the incident. Officers saw the woman running towards the Credit Union and enter the building. The man then enters the camera view, enters the Credit Union and only makes it in the building a few feet before leaving. 

This case has been closed.
