CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A man was killed in an overnight wreck after he lost control of his vehicle, plummeting off an interstate bridge, police said.
Police say 48-year-old Robert Kite died around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 on the Interstate-485 outer loop ramp to Interstate-77 north.
NC Highway Patrol said Kite lost control of his vehicle, ejecting him as his SUV continued over the edge of the ramp, causing the car to flip and land on the interstate below.
Kite was pronounced dead on scene.
Interstate-77 south was at a complete standstill overnight, but reopened early Tuesday morning.
