CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Dozens filled the parking lot a Camp Greene Park Thursday night to show their respects to 16-year-old Bobby McKeithen and his family.
The teenager was shot at Butler High School on Monday and died at the hospital. Matthews Police said another student is the suspect and is currently behind bars.
A candlelight vigil allowed for people to grieve together and share some memories about the teenager.
"It's going to be different. It's going to be hard, there's not much to explain. He's my little cousin, and he's gone," said the victim's relative.
McKeithen's mother lit a camera in honor of her son which shinned for the entire service.
Several of the teenager's classmates and even city leaders attended.
The vigil happened two days McKeithen's Saturday funeral.
The advocacy groups responsible for organizing the event are Mothers Of Murdered Offspring, Million Youth March of Charlotte & Salisbury, Million Youth March Of Charlotte and Salisbury Teen Advisory Board.
