IREDELL CO., NC (WJZY) - The Iredell County Sheriff's Office arrested a Mooresville man after they said he secretly filmed someone while they were showering.
Deputies said on April 26 a report was filed in reference to the crime of 'secret peeping.'
The victim reported that she had been secretly filmed while taking a shower in a home in southern Iredell County.
It was determined the person who recorded the victim, Lee Earnest Williams, 33, was a registered sex offender.
While reviewing the evidence, detectives discovered Williams had also created a profile and was active on Kik, which is a social media website.
Registered sex offenders are not allowed to have profiles on social media sites that allow persons under the age of 18 to be members.
Williams is currently on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry as the result of a conviction of statutory rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 in the state of Massachusetts in 2005.
He has three prior convictions in Iredell, Alexander, and Gaston counties for sex offender - fail to register a new address. Williams currently has pending charges in Iredell County court for failing to register.
As a result of the investigation, Williams was charged with four counts of felony secret peeping, one count of fail to notify new online identifier and one count of sex offender on social media.
Williams was arrested on the new charges and received a 40,000 secure bond with a court date of May 2, 2016.
He is under a total bond of $45,000 which includes the pending charge of failure to register.
