AMBER ALERT: Abducted 9-year-old possibly heading to NC

UPDATE: The United States Marshals Service is offering a $2,500.00 reward for the safe return of Carlie Trent and for information leading to the apprehension of Gary Simpson. 


There is an Amber Alert out of eastern Tennessee where 9-year-old Carlie Trent has been missing since Wednesday.

Authorities believe she was taken from school by her uncle, Gary Simpson. Simpson has no custodial right to Carlie, according to authorities. He is wanted for kidnapping.

Simpson was last seen driving a white 2002 Dodge Conversion van with a Tennessee license plate 173GPS. The van has a dark stripe down the middle, light gold running boards and the paint is chipping off the hood.

Police in Boone confirmed a sighting of the van in Mountain City, Tennessee on Highway 421 heading toward Boone.

Carlie is 4 feet 8 inches, weights 75 pounds, she has blue eyes and blond hair. She was last seen wearing a black and grey tank top and blue jeans.

Simpson is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 157 pounds. He is balding and has brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a brown cap, dark colored shirt and jeans.
