Arrest made after rash of car break-ins across Charlotte

- An arrest has been made in connection to a rash of vehicle break-ins across Charlotte this summer, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Asmir Halilic, 19, is facing a slew of charges including possession of stolen property, breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, and felony larceny.

At 6:13 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, officers responded to Old House Circle in reference to multiple vehicles being broken into.

CMPD was able to obtain video footage from a camera that was located at one of the victim's homes that showed Halilic pulling on vehicle door handles and entering one of the vehicles.

Detectives were able to get a license plate number on the vehicle that he was last seen driving and they were able to use that information to identify Halilic and issue warrants for his arrest.

On Friday, August 3, officers observed Halilic driving a vehicle on Sam Newell Road and conducted a traffic stop and arrested him for the outstanding warrants. While searching the vehicle, officers located several stolen items from the recent car break-ins.
