Suspect identified in Kings Mountain armed robbery

- A man has been arrested in connection to an armed robbery in Kings Mountain that left four people seriously injured on Wednesday. 

The Kings Mountain Police Department says Ricky O'Daniel Smith is in custody, charged with four counts of attempted first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony larceny of motor vehicle, possession of stolen motor vehicle, and second-degree kidnapping.

According to Kings Mountain police, Smith went into the store at 112 S. York Road and demanded money. A struggle ensued with the employees of the store, which led to advanced medical treatment being required.

An unknown amount of cash was taken from the shop along with a 2018 RAV 4, which belonged to an employee. Smith then fled from the shop.

Kings Mountain residents were told to be on the lookout Thursday for a Hispanic male between 20 and 30-years-old, wearing a pair of tan pants, black shirt, a black bandana covering his head, and a white hat. Smith was taken into custody on Thursday.
