CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) - The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced Tuesday a reward of up to $10,000 for information on a fire that heavily damaged a South End townhome construction site.
The large fire occurred on Monday, November 14 at the Central Living at Carson Townhomes located near South Tryon Street and South Boulevard.
After an investigation of the incident, ATF determined the fire was intentionally set.
On Monday, firefighters discovered heavy fire coming from the roof of the building and substantial fire activity in several of the units.
ATF Certified Fire Investigators partnered with investigators with the Charlotte Fire Department and an accelerant detection canine for the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire and conclude that the fire was intentionally set.
No injuries were reported, though damage estimates for the structure were determined to be approximately $3 million.
ATF, the Charlotte Fire Department and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will continue to investigate the incident.
