Attempted kidnapping reported at Huntersville grocery store

- An attempted kidnapping was reported late Tuesday night in Huntersville, according to the Huntersville Police Department. 

The incident happened at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Food Lion located at 706 Gilead Road. 

The victim told officers she was walking behind the Food Lion alone when a white male, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans with shoulder length brown hair, approached her and attempted to abduct her. 

The woman said she used pepper spray on the man and was able to get away. 

Huntersville police are searching for the suspect vehicle, possibly a dark colored SUV, and searching for areas for video footage of this incident.
