Authorities: Cleveland Co. deputy shoots at hostile man

- A Cleveland County Sheriff's Deputy shot and killed a Lawndale man who was reportedly hostile, according to the Cleveland Co. Sheriff's Dept.

On Tuesday, June 21, Deputy Scott Trammel was called out to the 1300 block of E. Stage Coach Trail in reference to assist EMS with a psychiatric person.

The 911 caller told police that her brother was threatening to harm himself and he was in the yard with his mother telling everybody bye.

When Deputy Trammel arrived he found Pedro Cruz-Amado sitting on the front porch. Trammel says when he approached Cruz-Amado, he charged at him with a metal chair.

Officials say Deputy Trammel tried to retreat and Cruz-Amado picked up the metal chair and hit Trammel in the head. Trammel used deadly force to stop the attack.

SBI was called in to conduct and investigation. Trammel has been placed on administrative leave, which police say is standard in these situations.
