Thousands of students head back to school

- It's that time of year again. That's right, students everywhere will be loading up on pens, paper and notebooks throughout this week and the rest of the month as they prepare to go back to school. 

Many South Carolina public schools will be welcoming students back beginning Thursday. Among those are the Chester County School DistrictClover School DistrictFort Mill School DistrictLancaster County SchoolsRock Hill SchoolsSpartanburg County Schools and Union County Schools

Other SC schools in session on Aug. 22 are Cherokee County School District and Greenville County Schools.

North Carolina schools back in session on Monday, Aug. 21 include Ashe County SchoolsAvery County Schools and Watauga County Schools.

The first day of school for many NC public school students will be Monday, Aug. 28. School calenders for counties in the greater-Charlotte area can be seen by clicking below. 

As for colleges and universities in the area, traditional 16-week semester classes began as early as Aug. 14. Students can click below for links to their specific college and class calendars.
