Belmont community searches for repeat speeder

- Belmont Police officers are looking for a driver in a red truck.

Community members have complained that the vehicle is speeding through their Stowe Pointe neighborhood, a lot.

Officers want to find the driver to talk with him/her about the neighborhood's complaints. The department has not ruled out pressing charges.

"Speeding is a serious issue," an officer said.

Recently, the red truck was seen hitting several garbage cans on the curb, and leaving behind lots of trash. After taking a report, a Belmont Police officer volunteered to pickup the trash that scattered a family's lawn.

"My fear is that those garbage cans could easily have been a child," a homeowner said.

The community came together to provide information to investigators about the vehicle they believe is involved, including a surveillance picture of the truck and a license plate number.
