CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 WJZY) - The excitement is fast approaching.
"Honestly, it's going to make everything easier to get around the city," said Lindsay Sprick.
The eleven station more than nine mile long Lynx Blue Line Extension takinf off for their first official ride, Friday, March 16
"We're so excited. Everybody is excited. We're only a week away," said Jill Brim, the project manager of the Blue Line Extension.
Brim tells FOX 46 just touch up work is being done to get ready for Friday and the issue they had with the crossing gate is resolved.
"We've addressed the single gate issue. We had a hardware part, we replaced the hardware part. We've retested and everything looks good for opening day," Brim said.
Lindsay Sprick is one the 25,000 daily riders officials are expecting. She's looking forward to stress free Carolina Panther game days.
"I'm really excited to go from Panthers games from walking their going on down visiting all the bars and breweries and the game and just being able to open up the city a lot more," Sprick said.
Others say, it's definitely a different form of transportation they will consider.
"I live pretty close to Uptown so Ubering is my preferred but if im going to visit friends and they live close to a Blue Line area its definitely something I would use," said Sarah Parker.
With the long awaited project almost here, Brim is looking forward for a great opening day.
