CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Body worn camera footage released by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Wednesday show officers shooting a man multiple times who was holding a pregnant woman hostage at gunpoint.
The incident happened at 10:03 p.m. Monday, September 25 in the 1900 block of Holly Street.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect identified as Jonathan Autry inside of a home. He fled the home with a pregnant woman he was holding hostage at gunpoint.
CMPD officers can be heard on camera shouting, "Drop the gun now!" multiple times and, "This is not going to end well."
CMPD said their officers on scene perceived an imminent deadly threat to the woman and fired their weapons, striking Autry. The woman was unharmed during the incident and taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Autry was also transported to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released.
The Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office reviewed this incident and found the officers acted lawfully. The DA's Office report of the officer’s findings will be released after the criminal charges against Autry have been tried in court.
