Body found, believed to be missing Charlotte man reportedly killed by roommate

- A body discovered in Union County Friday is believed to be the missing Charlotte man who police believe was murdered by his roommate this week.

Deputies with the Union County Sheriff's Office, CMPD's Homicide Unit, and the FBI were on scene in the 6800 block of New Town Road in Wesley Chapel. The area was closed off to the public.

Three people have been charged in connection to this case. Dwayne Evans, 28, has been charged with murder and Jason Connell Palmer, 31, and Shavonn Lanique Scott, 32, have both been charged with accessory after the fact-murder.

Officers received a 'missing persons call' around 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25 in the 100 block of South Smallwood Place. A woman reported that her boyfriend, Eric Spells, 28, had been missing since the night before and had not shown up to work that day after an argument with his roommate, Evans.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police believe based off of evidence that Evans murdered Spells during an argument. They said Evans then disposed of Spells, with help from Palmer and Scott.

All three suspects are in custody at this time.

The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner's Office still remains to positively identify the body, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

This remains an ongoing, active investigation.
