Boone plane crash survivor passes away from injuries

- A surviving passenger in April's deadly Boone plane crash has passed away.

Steven Cox Berry, 43, of Banner Elk, died from his injuries over the Memorial Day weekend, according to his GoFundMe page that was set up to support his recovery.

The crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 25 in the vicinity of Boone Golf Club.

Authorities said the plane clipped a group of trees between the airport and the golf club during takeoff.

Retired North Carolina State Trooper Benjamin (Ben) Franklin Chappell, 69, of Boone was killed in the crash.

The third person on the plane, John Field Worsley II, 68, of Lenoir, was taken to the hospital in April in critical condition.

The update on Berry's GoFundMe page announced on Sunday:

"It is with great sadness to tell you Steve passed yesterday. Arrangements are being finalized and will be posted shortly. Please continue to pray for Annette and their families."
