CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The boyfriend of a woman who was found dead inside her Steele Creek home on Sunday has now been charged with her death, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Deshawn Lamont Clipper, 31, will be charged with the murder of Stephanie Potts, 35, police said.
Officers were called to the 13100 block of Black Chestnut Place at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 for a welfare check. As they arrived on scene, they located Potts deceased inside of the home.
Her family has been notified of her death, police said.
Clipper has been transported to CMPD headquarters where he is being interviewed by homicide detectives. After his interview, he will be formally charged with murder and taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives determined that this was not a random act of violence.
