CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - CMPD officers are searching for the person responsible for shooting up a popular SouthEnd breakfast spot.
At least three bullet holes could be seen in a window at Owen’s Bagel and Deli on South Boulevard.
CMPD officers tell FOX 46 Charlotte just as employees were preparing breakfast Tuesday morning at Owen’s, someone started firing shots into the restaurant.
CMPD officers quickly responded to the scene, but luckily no one was hurt.
Other employees at businesses within the shopping center also arrived at work to find roads closed, damaged windows and officers all around.
A sign outside Owen’s says there are cameras in the area which customers hope will help find the shooter.
“Yeah that’s pretty scary. This feels like a very safe neighborhood. I walk with my soon here all the time. I get my toes done and I eat bagels here sometimes so yeah that’s really scary. Southend is usually pretty safe,” said customer, Kelly Stoneking.
Owen’s remained closed Tuesday, but a sign posted on the front door says they plan to reopen for business as usual on Wednesday.
We checked the CMPD crime map and the only report on that block of South Boulevard in the past month was for a suspicious person.
