Camp North End, once neglected, gets facelift

- A 20-year development project, equivalent in size to 14 square-blocks of Uptown Charlotte, is coming to North End.

"There's so much space, it's so massive, you just kind of think, it looks like The Illuminati headquarters, what goes on there?" North Charlotte resident Winston Robinson said.

Camp North End, located off Statesville Avenue, is being revitalized. It's already underway with a public patio space and a number of tenants -- from artists to political candidates.

"This isn't like anything you're going to find in the city," artist Dammit Wesley said.

Camp North End started off as Ford Motor Plant in the 1920's.

"Six giant warehouses, a few small buildings," Camp North End's Varian Shrum said.
