Carolinas HealthCare System names new CEO

- Carolinas HeatlhCare System welcomes new leadership Thursday morning.

The System's Board of Commissioners unanimously voted Eugene A. Woods as the next President and Cheif Executive Officer. 

Woods is currently the President and Chief Operating Office Of CHRISTUS Health in Irving, Texas.

“I am honored to be joining Carolinas HealthCare System,” Woods said. “This is one of the most comprehensive and highly integrated healthcare systems in the nation, combining extraordinary care with an unwavering commitment to the region. This is a remarkable time in the history of Carolinas HealthCare System thanks to the leadership of Michael Tarwater and all my new teammates.”

He will join the Carolinas HealthCare System in April. 

The current President and CEO Michael Tarwater will retire June 2015.

Brown III, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Carolinas HealthCare System. “We know that he is the right person to lead this organization as we continue our journey as one of the leading healthcare systems in the nation, providing incredible care to all the communities we serve.”
