Catawba Co. Animal Control rescues cow found in pool

- Despite the chilly weather, it looks like someone was in the mood for a swim!

Catawba County Animal Control was called Wednesday afternoon when the residents of 2320 Arrowhead Dr. in Newton discovered a cow in their pool.

The heifer was found less than a half a mile away from her home on Plateau Rd. The owner was alerted and came to get the animal.

According to Animal Control, the owner was able to rope the horns of the heifer and lead her into the shallow end of the pool.

Her legs were then stabilized and she was lifted out of the water. The whole operation took about eight people.

Luckily, the cow was fine and was very happy to be out of the water.

"It was a very smooth rescue" Animal Control says.
