CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - An apartment complex in the Thomasboro-Hoskins neighborhood of Charlotte looks more like a trash dump than a place to live.
Neighbors tell FOX 46 Charlotte it has been more than a week since anyone has come to collect trash from a single dumpster used by all the residents at the complex.
"It stinks," said neighbor, Miguel Stewart.
It's also ugly to look at when anyone drives by. The hundreds of bags of trash are now being taken over by hundreds of flies and other vermin.
"I've seen a rat and my biggest concern is the rodents," said Stewart.
Stewart says he tries his best to keep the rodents away, but the mess is now beyond his control Neighbors say it has been over a week since the dumpster off Glenwood Drive has been emptied. It's now leading to a new home for unwanted neighbors.
"I have seen a roach and I never seen a roach and I saw one in my apartment and I think it came from the trash," said Stewart.
The roach didn't travel far. Stewart has a birds eye view of the growing dump from his window.
"I heard something the day before yesterday. I thought it was the guy coming, but it wasn't. I can see it first hand and find out what is going on as far as looking out my window I can see everything," said Stewart.
Neighbors have called property management to report the conditions, but the company responsible for the dumpster still hasn't showed up. That's when Miguel Stewart decided to give FOX 46 a call.
"My man told me, look, if you want this done they don't waste their time they get right on over here, they call you and you called me this afternoon and here you is right here so yeah," said Stewart.
Stewart tells FOX 46 Charlotte this is the third time this has happended since December. FOX 46 reached out to Republic Services and property management, but so far we have not heard back.
