Charlotte City Council approves next phase of airport expansion

Charlotte City Council approved the next phase of expansion at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport Monday.

Council members approved the $7.8 million contract to Perkins+Will North Carolina to complete the design work for the first phase of concourse A north.

The $2.5 billion expansion will include new gates. Construction could start as early as January.
