CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A drunk man was apparently kicked out of a Taco Bell in south Charlotte after being unruly and yelling racial slurs at restaurant employees Sunday night.
The entire incident was caught on camera by Charlotte resident Eric Godbee. As the video begins, you can see the man and his girlfriend pacing around the Taco Bell parking lot arguing with employees who are trying to get them to leave the property.
"It was right there it was happening right next to me," said Godbee. Fighting in the middle of the road wasn't what he was expecting to see Sunday night.
"I absolutely wasn't looking for a fight, I was looking for some Taco Bell and to go to work."
But when he saw a customer getting thrown out at the Taco Bell off Montfort Dr., he hit the record button on his phone.
A rant filled with racial slurs aimed at workers coming Godbee says-- from *this guy in the Carolina Panthers jersey.
He appeared drunk, out of control, at one point even making fun of the cameraman's hometown even though the two had never met.
Godbee didn't seem too bothered, or concerned but a switch flipped when the man said: "Why you hanging out with f****** n****** man?"
Then, an employee confronts the man in the jersey who throws the first punch.
"Guy tackled him and they slid into the intersection as a vehicle was pulling in,” Godbee says.
Godbee says he never set out to make a viral video, it was a decision to document what he calls injustice. Injustice he says must be countered even if it's as simple as hitting record.
