Police say false call prompted Charlotte elementary school lockdown

- An elementary school in north Charlotte was briefly placed on lock-down due to police activity in the area on Tuesday.

Croft Community Elementary went into lock-down just after 2:00 p.m.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police say a false call prompted the lockdown. There was a suspicious person call for service in the area, but it turned out that it was just a person whose car had broken down.

CMS tells FOX 46 Charlotte nothing happened at the school, and the lockdown was only due to the police activity in the area.

The students have since been dismissed and parents were notified of the incident.
