Fire truck crashes while responding to vehicle fire on I-485

- Two firefighters were taken to the hospital after the fire truck they were operating wrecked while responding to a vehicle fire on I-485 this weekend.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The Cook's Community Volunteer Fire Department was responding to a vehicle fire on I-485 near Harris Boulevard when they lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and crashed.

Both members were transported to the hospital for their injuries and released.

"At this time, we want to thank the community for their thoughts and prayers during this event. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to local departments who volunteered their services and helped us to get back in service. We are truly blessed that all injuries were minor and our crew was being watched over," Cook's Community Volunteer Fire Dept. said.
