Charlotte listed as top metro families moved to

It's no surprise that Charlotte is expanding at a pretty rapid rate. New apartment buildings seem to be going up almost every day and construction projects are constantly in the works. The Charlotte area has been attracting young people, but it turns out families are also making the move.

According to the 2017 Summer Movers Study by United Van Lines, the Charlotte ranks No. 9 on the list of the top metro areas families moved to this peak moving season. United Van Lines defines the peak moving season as May 1 through August 31. 

The most popular metro areas for U.S. families to move to this season include:

  1. Seattle, Wash.
  2. Dallas, Texas
  3. Portland, Ore.
  4. Denver, Colo.
  5. San Francisco, Calif.
  6. Atlanta, Ga.
  7. Austin, Texas
  8. Las Vegas, Nev.
  9. Charlotte, N.C.
  10. Orlando, Fla.

Okay, so we know where everyone is moving to, but where exactly are they relocating from? The data also revealed the top 10 metro areas families were putting the pavement to.

  1. Chicago, Ill.
  2. New York, N.Y.
  3. Nassau-Suffolk, N.Y.
  4. Boston, Mass.
  5. Norfolk, Va.
  6. San Bernardino, Calif.
  7. Bergen-Passaic, N.J.
  8. Newark, N.J.
  9. Washington, D.C.
  10. San Diego, Calif.

Based on the study it looks like Americans continue to leave the northeastern cities for a change of scenery.
