Charlotte police hand out freeze pops to community

- Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers beat the July heat this week by handing out freeze pops to people in the community.

Officer Christopher Frunzi and his partner, Officer Ron Hill, posted a video to Facebook of their "ice cream tour" around the Charlotte area.

"I figured, 'it's 90 degrees outside so, we wanted something, an icy pop or something, so why not drive through here, talk to some people, hang out, have some icy pops and relax,'" Officer Frunzi tells one woman and her family.

The two officers admit they ate a fair amount of freeze pops themselves, but based on the video it looks like a lot of people got to enjoy as well.

"The other day it was so hot in Charlotte so what better way to spend the day then to hand out Ice Pops and connect with the community. Officer Hill and I had a blast and met some really great people."

Officer Frunzi and Officer Ron will be on Good Day Charlotte at 8 a.m. on Friday.
