CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The owner of a daycare in Chesterfield County has been charged with assaulting a child, according to the Sheriff's office.
Bloynde Michael, 38, was arrested after Chesterfield Count deputies were dispatched to the McLeod Health Cheraw emergency room for an assault that had already occurred.
Once deputies arrived, the toddler’s grandmother told authorities that Michael sent her a text saying that the boy had fallen on a dollhouse, resulting in a scratch on his face.
However, the grandmother noticed additional injuries in a photo Michael sent her of the boy's face, and questioned how the other injuries occurred. The grandmother said Michael did not have a response.
When the child’s mother picked him up from day care, she noticed he had bruises from his hand to his elbow on his right arm, as well as injuries to his left hand.
Michael again failed to explain how the injuries occurred. The child was then taken to McLeod Health, where additional bruising was discovered on his buttocks.
Michael was booked into the Chesterfield County Detention Center on assault charges. No other information is available at this time.
