Church mourns teen killed in tragic car accident

- The scene of an accident that claimed the life of a South Charlotte teen has been turned into a makeshift memorial. This, as his family and friends try to make sense of his death.

Dozens of flowers, notes and a picture of 14-year-old Joshua Pang now decorate the area where he tragically lost his life in a car accident early Saturday morning.

"We're letting our kids express their thoughts and grief and making ourselves available to them,” said Gina Wall, youth pastor at Southern Korean Presbyterian Church.

Josh and other four kids in the car with him at the time of the accident, including the 18-year-old driver, are active members of the church. Wall says the teens had just finished up a movie at a friend's house when they decided to take a drive. When Wall received news of Josh's death, it shook her to the core.

"Shaken as youth pastor; shaken as mom,” said Wall.

However, Josh’s spirit lives on, especially in the church. He’s being remembered for his love for playing the drums on the church’s praise team and scoring lead roles in holiday plays.

“I remember when he was really young; he was mischievous, got in everybody's hair,” Wall said. “But he's a young man now. And I was so proud how he was growing spiritually."

Josh's love for life was contagious. He never met a stranger. And that's more than evident in each and every note placed at his memorial by those who knew him.

“Together we're going to make it easier for them to come to grips with what happened,” said Wall.
