CHARLOTTE, NC (F)X 46 WJZY) - The city of Charlotte is making it easier to make requests for speed bumps and four-way stops.
On Monday, the city council unanimously approved a measure that would lower the threshold for consideration on a number of what are called "traffic calming" steps that neighborhoods can take.
Under old rules, a street needed traffic a minimum of 1,000 cars a day to even be considered for a speed bump or a four-way traffic setup. That number is now 600.
Similar reductions have been made for other traffic planning measures, along with the petition requirements.
