CLT airport to end tipping for bathroom attendants

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport announced this week they will continue their restroom attendant program, but will end the tipping component.

Officials said the new practice will begin in the new fiscal year. They said restroom attendants will receive an hourly rate between $10 -12 per hour.

Currently, the Airport has 52 attendants who are employed by Sunshine Cleaning. The program began in 2006.

"The Airport decided to make the change due to mixed reviews from our customers about the program. It’s also CLT’s intention to place an emphasis on maintaining clean restrooms instead of receiving tips," the Airport said in a written statement.
